Undertake Participatory Processes to Update and Develop the Godineau Swamp Management Plan and ESA Designation

The SORB Project invites proposals from qualified firms to lead participatory processes to update and develop the Godineau Swamp Management Plan and support its designation as an Environmentally Sensitive Area (ESA).

This initiative aims to

  • Review and align national policy documents, international conventions, and local stakeholder inputs to support the development of a proposal to designate the Godineau Swamp as an ESA in Trinidad and Tobago.

  • Lead inclusive, stakeholder-driven processes to produce an updated and comprehensive management plan for the Godineau Swamp within the SORB.

Provision of Services to Design and Implement a Climate Change Awareness Campaign

The SORB Project is inviting proposals from qualified firms to design and implement a Climate Change Awareness Campaign in the South Oropouche River Basin.

Key deliverables include:

  • Development of awareness and educational materials

  • Facilitation of awareness-raising workshops with local NGOs, community groups, and private-sector developers within the SORB region

  • Design and implementation of an information campaign focused on good climate adaptation practices.

Enhancing Flood Preparedness and Emergency Response in the South Oropouche River Basin (SORB)

Provision of Video Production Services

The SORB Project invites proposals from experienced Video Production Firms to produce three high-quality documentary-style videos (5–7 minutes each) highlighting:

  • SORB project activities, with emphasis on infrastructure and design

  • Community impact

  • Gender and climate change impacts

The selected firm should have proven expertise in story-driven video production for development or impact-focused projects, including scripting, filming, editing, and post-production. Experience in community development, climate change, infrastructure, and gender-related storytelling, as well as capturing high-quality field footage and integrating graphics or animation, is required.

Construction of Meteorological Station Towers

The scope entails the construction of foundations at six (6) sites within the South Oropouche River Basin, along with the installation of fenced enclosures to secure the automatic weather stations. Work also includes the integration of rust-proof shark spikes for anti-climb protection, the installation of site signage, and support for the erection of galvanised steel towers.

South Oropouche River Basin (SORB) Project invites applications from qualified consultants or firms for a short-term consultancy to develop a comprehensive Terms of Reference (ToR) for the Promotion of Sustainable Oyster Harvesting in the Godineau Swamp, Trinidad.

This assignment aims to support the training of oyster harvesters in sustainable practices that protect mangrove ecosystems, as well as to design and install durable artificial structures for sustainable oyster and crab harvesting.

This assignment aims to support the development of eco-tourism as a sustainable livelihood diversification strategy for local fishers, while promoting conservation efforts. The consultant will conduct a market study, develop feasibility reports, and design and plan the construction of eco-tourism infrastructure.

Short Term Consultant: Procurement Professional

The SORB Project is seeking an experienced Procurement Professional for a short-term consultancy to review and advise on procurement activities related to high-risk project deliverables. The consultant will support efficient, transparent procurement in line with the policies of UWI, the Adaptation Fund, and CAF.

Key Tasks:

  • Review of ToRs, RFPs, evaluation reports, and contracts

  • Recommend risk-mitigation measures and process improvements

  • Support contract drafting and stakeholder engagement

Expression of Interest: Dasheen Plots in SORB

The South Oropouche River Basin (SORB) Project is inviting farmers within the SORB area to participate in a climate-resilient livelihoods initiative focused on Dasheen (Colocasia esculenta) cultivation.

The project will establish forty (40) Dasheen plots, each approximately 1,000 m², on selected farmers’ holdings at no cost to the farmers. Participants will be selected based on suitability criteria, including land eligibility, and will be subject to site visits.

Eligible farmers must be located within the SORB area, must not be interlopers on the land, and must agree to follow guidance from the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, as well as the conditions of the SORB Project.
